For example, in a recent publishing... the North American Lutheran Church offered a biblically rooted theological foundation for the ordaining of women to the office of ordained Christian ministry. This subject I liken to a persistent deep knock occasionally sounding in a rough-running V-12. Historically much ink has been printed on this subject and the conversation yet continues… often to the point of pre-ignition and combustion among some Lutherans. The Lutheran Church, as well as other denominations... have been fueled and gotten torqued over this topic. We subsequently find a need to examine Holy Scripture closely to get proper perspective. In this effort, however, we find that some form an opinion before examining the relevant texts. They choose to ignore those which refute their position. Others investigate more faithfully. These last properly use a technique known as “exegesis” to draw true meaning from the deep well of God’s Word |

In examining biblical text, we find that Jesus, through Matthew… laid out for us, a proper method for attempted reconciliation. By the power of the Holy Spirit his reconciliation technique works. But, because of our stubbornness, sometimes not. It is this last that we confess. By doing so we may be forgiven for Jesus’sake, and we then can continue in ministry together. If we adhere to the Word of God rightly interpreted and try to follow Christ our Lord, we will eventually find a road smoothed and paved toward healing and empowerment. However, if our disagreement festers… and reconciliation possibilities don’t exist for persons, churches or denominations, we then are to put the scriptural offender away from us. However, this is not the end of our proper evangelical ministry. In a practical sense, if one wheel is lost on a wagon… a three-wheeled cart can be built. If yet another wheel is lost, a two-wheel cart can be then pulled forward by the Holy Spirit. This is so |
