persons with safe travel to the cross of Christ, only to be detoured… and too late find the soul-saving bridge has washed away. We know that in the past, mainline churches played a significant role in American religious, social, and political life. Since the mid-20th century, however, these have seen a steady decrease in attendance. Only a few evangelical churches have grown. To social engineers, this mainline decline is attributed to several factors. Changed values, population density shifts, and increased secularization happened. If we throw in lesser populations on board because of birth controls, and church denominations become quiet. This means to more than a few observers that Christian traditions are dying, losing vitality and relevance in modern society. Along a more AI accepted route, fundamentalist evangelical Christian churches have risen in population using entertainment worship. Why the exception? Is the answer found in recorded music sales? However, many of these churches are now dying simply because their musical money grubbing road has developed a few “pot” holes. With many mainline Christian faith expressions failing, and evangelical branches also wilting, the overall statistics for the future of Christian witness disturbs those of us who remain in ministry… some who like me… try to do video evangelism. Many authorities in today’s church say our younger generations are less likely to affiliate with organized religion. They lament that young people seek spiritual fulfillment in commercial ways, lured outside of our traditional church structures. positions to survive. They joyously embraced radical diversity, equity and inclusion concepts. Using distorted theological interpretations of scripture, they’ve tried to gather people who claim no religious affiliation because of their personal lifestyle choices. However, using these progressive tactics, like the gay couples they sometimes attract… these remain barren. Progressive error leaves many mainline congregants arriving to empty church parking lots. Despite these challenges, however, declaring mainline Christianity as... "dead in the middle of the road”… may be premature. Many liberal denominations persist in apostasy. Some wrongly participate in pride movements for civil rights, environmental stewardship, and inclusiveness. The trouble is found that these churches replace proper biblical interpretation with isogetical methods, supporting faulty missions just to emphasize “hot” issues. Thus they subjugate their proper calling and allow themselves to be misguided by demonic, worldly powers. Remember! Traditionally guided by the Holy Spirit, the true Church was empowered to first preach, teach and baptize in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. beginning… and we should not trade that primacy away. To emphasize and endorse causes that can be rightly served by other entities present in the public square noisily drowns proper Christian church voices and outreach. It seems that the true Church needs to be wary of these modern trends as communication algorithms and their artificial intelligence masters thrash our exposure until we are counted out. Take heed… they are NOT GOD! Instead, we need to prayerfully fight this demise. Retain the power given to us by our Lord at Pentecost. Pray to God by the power of the Holy Spirit, for a right understanding of scripture and a stable working perception. Keep very aware of these powers that demonically turn society from favorable toward uncaring or harmful to the Christian message. Keep on telling the Truth as given in and by Christ Jesus, who is God’s Truth! We who drive forward as witnesses in these days of lean darkness need to pray that all things would unfold according to God’s good pleasure, and our numbers shall certainly increase.
