We read from scripture… 21 From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. 22 And Peter took him and began to rebuke him, saying, “God forbid, Lord! This shall never happen to you.” 23 But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me; for you are not on the side of God, but of men.” (Matthew 16:21-23) You see, as his disciples, the men repeatedly revealed that they thought Jesus would cast off foreign and domestic powers. He was to restore Israel to a theocracy that had previously existed. We in the Church and state within modern society must carefully note that Jesus responded to this objection with a very clear statement… “Get behind me Satan, you are a hindrance to me, for you are not on the side of God, but of men.” You see, any government, community or human being that tries to mold God to fit their particular agenda is most certainly demonic. Even today, we yet find this sinfulness trying to distort the Law of God, and alter our perspective on the divine workings of God in history… simply in order to advance pet causes. Here, even though we can only sense the powers at work behind the scenes to ensure future political party prominence… we can see these immediate sinful effects. Through abortion and child murder, the innovators gain and cement the votes of pro-choice adherents. Through the death of elder residents who have in majority voted against the liberal and |

progressive powers… they gain even more political sway. In recent weeks, we have experienced major disaster because of a virus that has struck the United States. In typical fashion, rather than seeking healing, these powerful entities are playing the blame game. Like Peter, instead of recognizing the true cause of trauma… these blame others for the lack of foresight and response. |

If that doesn’t satisfy… then they blame an institution, including the Church, for lack of preparedness. Finally, they get to where Peter began… throwing up their hands before God and saying “Heaven forbid!” Peter ended up where he began, and this is where we must realize the final truth.
